Protecting Our Client’s Residence Permit During a Medical Crisis!

Our client came to us after receiving an Additional Information Request from the Finnish Immigration Service regarding the potential cancellation of a residence permit based on employment grounds. The client had been working as a practical nurse, but due to a work-related injury, was placed on medical leave and temporarily unable to continue assisting clients.
As a result, the Finnish Immigration Service questioned whether the grounds for the residence permit still existed and initiated proceedings to cancel both the client’s permit and that of a dependent family member.
We immediately stepped in to assess the case and prepared a comprehensive response. By referring to relevant EU legislation and Finnish national laws, we argued that the interruption in employment was medically justified and did not reflect an abandonment of employment or integration. We demonstrated the client’s strong ties to Finland and their ongoing commitment to recovery and eventual return to work.
The Finnish Immigration Service chose not to cancel the residence permits, allowing our client and their family member to continue residing in Finland without disruption.
We are proud to have played a part in protecting our client’s rights and stability during a challenging time. If you are facing the risk of losing your residence permit due to health, employment, or legal concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Our office will continue providing high-quality legal and administrative services, understanding that immigration matters can significantly impact lives and futures. If you’re facing challenges with your residence permit, do not hesitate to reach out to us for professional assistance.
