Our client initially received a negative decision on their residence permit application, which was based on family ties. We immediately appealed the decision to the Administrative Court.

While waiting for the result, we also applied for a permanent residence permit based on entrepreneurship. However, due to some challenges with the business, this route became complicated.

To strengthen the family’s situation, we applied for a residence permit for the client’s spouse based on work. After responding to several additional information requests from the Finnish Immigration Service, their were granted a residence permit.

We then switched the basis of our client’s application to family ties again and responded to three additional information requests. As a result, he was granted a four-year residence permit based on family ties due to his criminal background!

This is a great example of how persistence, flexibility, and strategic action can lead to a positive outcome.
