An Unexpected Change In The Market Requirements Concerning The Cleaning Sector!

It is widely known that the cleaning Field has been in huge demand for the past 10 years, however, recently due to the ongoing crisis in the construction field, the cleaning field which is in direct connection has been also affected, making the sector no longer in demand.

Previously the demand in the cleaning sector allowed individuals and companies to apply for residence permits based on employment grounds without the need to advertise according to § 72a (1) and (2) of the Finnish Alien´s Act, given that the individual in question would be employed in the cleaning field.

Currently, due to changes, the employer is required to advertise the job position for 2 weeks on the TE-Office website before hiring a person from a third nation since Finnish citizens and EU citizens as well as residence permit holders have priority over third-country nationals. From the 1st of June 2024, the demand fields are the restaurant field and the medical field only.

Despite these changes, Finland still needs 44,000 more immigrants per year than we currently have in order to normalize the aging gap aspect of the Finnish population according to the ETLA-136 report.

Many clients have found themselves surprised by the unexpected changes that occurred to the Finnish market and not knowing what approach they should take when receiving additional information request from the TE-Office.
